The AXIS TU8002-E is an outdoor-designed midspan serving as a power supply for network devices, particularly for video surveillance systems with high energy demands such as PTZ cameras. The manufacturer is Axis, and the device is distributed under the manufacturer's number 02453-001. It provides a PoE power output of 90 watts and is designed for use in demanding environments, including railway applications.

Applications
This midspan is specifically developed for outdoor use, with protection ratings IP66/IP67 and NEMA TS2 certification ensuring protection against dust, water, and mechanical impacts. The operating conditions include an extended temperature range from -40 °C to 65 °C, making it suitable for regional applications in extreme climatic conditions. Railway suitability according to EN 50121-4 and IEC 62236-4 enables use in railway infrastructure.

Functions and Equipment in Detail
The AXIS TU8002-E features RJ45 connectors with IP66/IP67 protection rating, allowing connections in outdoor environments without opening the device. This reduces maintenance requirements and increases operational reliability. The surge protection at the AC input is up to 6 kV, protecting the device against voltage surges. Power supply is via an AC input of 100 to 240 V AC, enabling universal use in various countries.

Technology Explained Simply
The PoE technology (Power over Ethernet) enables power delivery through the network cable, eliminating the need for separate power lines. The midspan supports IEEE 802.3af, at, and bt standards, as well as High-PoE-capable devices. The 90-watt power output is sufficient to supply multiple or high-power devices simultaneously. PoE technology is particularly advantageous for installing network cameras, as it simplifies cabling and increases placement flexibility.

Compatibility and Accessories
The midspan is compatible with IEEE 802.3af/at/bt and High-PoE-capable devices. Suitable accessories include Surge Protector TU8001 Ethernet, Surge Protector T8061 Ethernet, PoE Extender T8129, PoE Extender TU8010 2-Port, Mounting • STEEL • steel straps, and PoE Extender T8129-E Outdoor. These components can be used to extend range or protect against surges.

Mounting and Installation
Installation is performed by directly connecting the network cable to the network video product. The IP66/IP67-certified RJ45 connectors allow a secure connection in outdoor environments without opening the device. Mounting is done using the provided attachment options, with the use of steel straps or other mounting aids recommended to ensure stable fixation.

Operational Advantages
The AXIS TU8002-E provides reliable power supply for network devices in outdoor environments. The combination of high PoE budget, extended temperature tolerance, and surge protection ensures long service life and low maintenance costs. Railway suitability and IP protection rating make the device a robust solution for critical infrastructures.
