Communication occurs in TCP and UDP modes, with TCP mode suitable for reliable data transfer and UDP mode for time-critical applications. The maximum data transfer rate is 921.6 kbps, with any baud rate configurable to ensure compatibility with various serial devices. Up to five hosts can simultaneously access a single serial port, while in TCP client mode up to 16 hosts can be addressed.

The unit features integrated 15 kV ESD protection for all serial signals, protecting against electrostatic discharges that may occur during handling or operation. Additionally, it offers 4 kV surge protection between lines and 8 kV surge protection between line and ground, protecting devices against transient voltage spikes.
