The SR3D Safety Control Device:

The SR3D is a versatile safety control device with three secure, redundant, and diverse relay outputs, along with an additional auxiliary contact (signaling contact). It is specifically designed to safely and quickly shut down moving parts of a machine or system in the event of a hazard. Typical applications of the SR3D include single-channel or dual-channel emergency stop circuits and protective grid monitoring on machines and systems. With certifications from TÜV-Rheinland and Germanischer Lloyd (GL) with certificate TAE00003JF, the SR3D is also approved for use on ships and in continuous operation combustion plants in accordance with EN 50156-1 and EN 746-2.

The SR3D allows for the connection of various safety components such as emergency stop buttons, safety switches, non-contact safety switches, and safety components with OSSD outputs. It supports both single-channel and dual-channel operation and features feedback loop monitoring for downstream contactors or expansion modules. The device also offers cross-fault and ground-fault monitoring as well as cyclic checking of the output contacts. The switching state is displayed via an LED indicator for clear status recognition.

The SR3D supports two possible start behaviors: a monitored manual start or an automatic start. This flexibility allows the SR3D to be used in various applications and safety concepts. The safety-related stop function is carried out up to PL e / SIL 3 / Category 4 according to EN ISO 13849-1 / IEC 61508. When the emergency stop circuit is closed (e.g., via a closed safety door), the SR3D releases the machine. If the safety function is requested (e.g., by opening the safety door), the release current paths are immediately opened, and the machine is safely shut down. Thanks to the force-guided relays, the safety function is maintained even if an internal error occurs. Errors are detected by the cyclic self-monitoring system at the next request for the safety function.

The device is designed for installation in control cabinets with a protection class of IP54. Installation is carried out on a 35-mm DIN rail according to EN 60715 TH35. For the AC 115 V / 230 V version, a minimum distance of 10 mm from adjacent devices must be maintained. To ensure this distance, the ZANDER AACHEN spacer (part no. 472596) can be used.
