Description:
The EPR-WG is a robust, absolute single-turn encoder, specifically designed for use with programmable cam controllers in the EPR16, EPR48, EPC16, and EPC48 series. With its mechanically stable construction and optoelectronic, contactless scanning, it is ideal for precise and durable industrial applications.
Features:
- Resolution: 360 or 1000 steps per revolution
- Supported Codes: Binary or Gray-Excess-76-Code
- Push-pull outputs for flexible signal processing
- Short-circuit proof and reverse-polarity protected outputs for enhanced safety
- Direct compatibility with EPR16, EPR48, EPC16, EPC48
- Reversible rotation direction (requires adapter cable, depending on production year)*
- High mechanical load capacity, suitable for high speeds
Technical Details:
- Sensing: Optoelectronic, contactless, and wear-free
- Material: Durable, ball-bearing-mounted shaft
- Mechanical Durability: Suitable for high-speed applications
- Supply Voltage: +10V to +24V
- Connection Options: Axial or radial
- Safety Features: Short-circuit proof, reverse-polarity protected
Mounting Instructions:
- Front mounting with 3 M4 screws
- Connect the shaft using a suitable membrane coupling (see accessories)
- Prevent damage by avoiding:
- Electrostatic discharge
- Excessive mechanical force on the shaft
- Impacts, shocks, and vibrations
- Extreme temperatures and chemical exposure
Available Options:
- Encoder with axial or radial connectors
- Shielded cables with connectors on both ends, available in various lengths (see part numbers).
Rotation Direction Note:
Starting with the 2020 production year, the rotation direction can no longer be changed directly on the encoder. Adjustments can be made using an adapter cable (Part No. 585738), placed between the encoder and the controller.
Applications:
Ideal for industrial use cases such as:
- Machine tools
- Packaging machines
- Labeling systems
- Bakery machines
- Testing and production automation
Package Contents:
- Encoder EPR-WG
- Installation manual
- Optional cables and adapters sold separately
Highlights:
Each angle corresponds to an absolute value in binary or Gray code, eliminating the need for reference points required by incremental scanning systems.
Accessories:
Matching shielded cables and adapters are available separately.
