The SM 331 (331-7KF01) is a versatile analog input module specifically designed for industrial automation systems. It features 8 analog inputs divided into 4 groups and operates with a 12-bit resolution. The module supports a wide range of voltage and current measurements, including voltages from ±10 V to ±80 mV and currents from ±20 mA to ±3.2 mA. It also allows for the connection of resistance thermometers such as Pt100 and Ni100, as well as various thermocouples (types J, K, N, L, E, T, S, B, C, R), providing flexibility in temperature data acquisition.
With a current consumption of 95 mA from the backplane bus and a power loss of 3 W, the SM 331 offers an energy-efficient solution. Its extensive diagnostic features include process alarms, diagnostic interrupts, and the ability to read diagnostic data. A red SF LED indicates group errors, while each channel has its own red LED for error indication. The module supports both internal and external temperature compensation for thermocouples, with a temperature error compensation of 3 K for internal compensation.
Thanks to the Sigma-Delta measurement technology, the SM 331 ensures precise signal processing with conversion times ranging from 4 to 68 ms per channel. The insulation between the channels and the backplane bus ensures high operational safety. The module is designed for mounting on the Rail System 300 and complies with international safety standards, holding UL and KC certifications.
