The watertightness was tested under an applied pressure of 0.3 bar when the cables were subjected to vibration, bending, torsion, tension and shear. The chemical and bacterial resistance was also tested. Based on VDE 0278 Part 1, load change tests were carried out with conductor temperatures of up to 90 °C. An average service life of 30 years was determined by measuring and calculating the diffusion rate. The sealing behaviour after 30 years was simulated and confirmed by leak tests with reduced internal pressure.
