The larger part is intended for the incoming and outgoing fiber optic cables and is equipped with a holder for a splice cassette. The cables enter this area through the housing jacket and are sealed in bushings. The smaller area is intended for cable connection using patch cords and couplings. The couplings are installed on the middle partition. Since the connector type is usually not known in advance, 3 partitions for the most common connectors are part of the housing (for 24xST, 24x SC and 16x SC-Duplex couplings). Both sections are protected against ingress of dust by a PUR foam seal on the door and a special frame construction. The smaller area can be used as a passageway (i.e. for cables leading out through the gap under the door to the next component) or completely dust-tight and enclosed. This depends on the modules used, which are included in the accessory pack for both variants.
