Further information for Teltonika DSM
Every road user must be aware that their behavior and actions have a major impact on their own safety and the safety of others. Distraction remains the leading cause of many traffic accidents, resulting in serious injuries, deaths and damage to cargo. Furthermore, according to Driver Fatigue in the European Road Transport Report (Year 2021), 24% of bus and coach drivers and 30% of truck drivers said they had fallen asleep while driving at least once in the last 12 months. We are pleased to announce that Teltonika Telematics has developed a new Driver Safety Monitoring (or DSM) solution. Based on cutting-edge technologies, Teltonika DSM has several built-in warning conditions: Drowsiness, Yawning, Distraction, Smoking, Talking on the Phone and Fastening a Seat Belt. In addition, it can detect and store 999 driver IDs and identifies which driver is on board. DSM immediately notifies a driver with an audible alarm when any of these events are detected. Once the camera detects alarming events inside the vehicle, it tracks that GPS device does this and sends the relevant data to the vehicle's dedicated server for timely monitoring and further analysis. The fleet owner can obtain photographic evidence for future investigations. The integrated safety alert solution is designed to prevent possible car accidents, injuries, casualties and financial losses. The driver safety monitoring solution consists of the DSM camera mounted on the front windshield (next to the A-pillar) of the vehicle and Teltonika's FMC640 professional GPS tracker both connected via a serial RS-232 interface. DSM CameraDetects alarming events through scanning and calculates head position detection, facial direction detection (yaw, pitch, roll) and eye opening/mouth opening/closing. All event data is sent to the dedicated server for further monitoring and analysis.
