Sine filters limit both the voltage gradient (du/dt) and the peak voltages on the motor winding. Similar to an output choke, they enable the connection of longer motor cable lengths. In addition, the bearing currents are significantly reduced. This makes it possible to operate standard motors with standard insulation and without insulated bearings on SINAMICS. The voltage load on the motor winding is therefore almost at the same level as with direct mains operation. Due to the very low voltage gradients on the motor cable, the sine filter also has a positive effect in terms of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).
