The Rutenbeck Universal Module UM-Cat.6A iso 10G is a shielded network module designed for use in 10-Gigabit-Ethernet networks. It features an RJ45 socket opening and is specifically designed for mounting in standard Keystone openings with dimensions 14.8 x 19.3 mm. The module is intended for use in structured cabling systems and complies with standards ISO/IEC 11801, DIN EN 50173-1, ANSI TIA/EIA-568-C.2 Category 6A, as well as DIN EN 60 603-7-51 for a transmission bandwidth up to 500 MHz. Shielding is achieved through a 360° strain relief, which protects against both mechanical pull and electromagnetic interference. The housing construction is made of zinc die-cast with a nickel-plated surface, ensuring high mechanical stability and corrosion resistance.
Applications
This module is designed for use in modern network infrastructures, particularly in environments requiring high data rates and reliability. It is suitable for office buildings, industrial facilities, schools, and other institutions where structured cabling to Cat.6A standard is required. Compatibility with PoE++ / 4PPoE according to IEEE 802.3bt enables power delivery over the network cable, simplifying the installation of IP cameras, access points, or other PoE-capable devices. UPOE and HDBaseT compliance extends application possibilities to systems with higher power requirements or audio/video signal transmission.
Functions and Features in Detail
The module features IDC terminals designed for solid conductors with a diameter of 0.51 to 0.64 mm (AWG 24–22) and flexible conductors with 0.13 to 0.22 mm (AWG 26, PE-Foamskin) as well as 0.22 to 0.28 mm (AWG 24, PE-solid). The outer diameters of the cables range from 0.7 to 1.6 mm (PE) for solid and 0.9 to 1.1 mm (PE) for flexible conductors. Each contact is designed for a single wire, ensuring clear assignment and high contact quality. The retermination capability exceeds 10 times when using the same or larger cross-section. The cable entry is optimized for bend radius (30°), reducing mechanical stress and preventing cable breakage. An integrated dust cap is removable or replaceable as needed, facilitating cleaning and maintenance.
Technology Explained Simply
The shielding of the module protects data transmission from electromagnetic interference caused by adjacent cables or electrical devices. The 360° strain relief ensures that pulling forces on the cable are not directly transferred to the contacts, increasing the module’s lifespan. IDC terminals allow for quick and reliable connections without special tools. Colour coding follows T568A and T568B standards from TIA/EIA-568-B.2, ensuring uniform cabling in networks. The module’s lifespan exceeds 750 mating cycles, indicating high mechanical durability and longevity. The RJ11/12 socket connection is key-locked, preventing incorrect mating.
Compatibility and Accessories
The module is compatible with standard Keystone openings and can be installed in various module carriers, patch panels, and multimedia panels. Compatible accessories include module carriers for 1–3 modules, patch panels for 24 modules, cable splitters for 12 modules, and mounting adapters for TAE-design faceplates from manufacturers such as Berker, Busch-Jaeger, GIRA, Jung, and Merten. Using a mounting adapter allows integration into existing switch faceplates, enhancing aesthetics and installation uniformity. GHMT counter-certification confirms the product’s quality and reliability.
Installation and Mounting
Mounting requires no special crimping tools or equipment, simplifying installation for electrical and IT technicians. The cable entry optimized for bend radius (30°) facilitates cable routing and reduces mechanical stress. A defined grounding connection is possible using standard flat connectors, enabling integration into grounded systems. The integrated dust cap can be removed or replaced as needed to facilitate cleaning.
Operational Advantages
The module offers high reliability and longevity due to its robust zinc die-cast construction and 360° strain relief. Shielding ensures stable data transmission, even in interference-prone environments. Compatibility with PoE++ and UPOE enables power delivery over the network cable, simplifying device installation without additional power sources. Re-termination capability and the key-locked RJ11/12 connection increase flexibility and safety during installation and maintenance. Compliance with international standards such as ISO/IEC 11801 and ANSI TIA/EIA-568-C.2 ensures interoperability with other network components.
