The digital Control Center PSS-224C serves as the core management unit of the VARES 3000 system, responsible for audio distribution and alarm control in complex PA applications. Designed for security-critical environments such as transportation hubs, industrial facilities, airports, and public buildings, the system is fully modular and scalable. In combination with up to three PEU-056B expansion units, it enables flexible control of up to 224 speaker circuits or relay contacts in increments of 8.

Supplied without relay cards by default, the PSS-224C allows customized configuration using PRC-008C, PRC-308C, and the advanced monitored types PRC-408C and PRC-508A. These latest cards comply with VDE 0828 / EN 60849 and offer full amplifier and speaker monitoring with routing functionality.

For remote operation, the system features ten galvanically isolated control inputs—eight of which are monitored. An additional eight inputs can be added via the optional PIC-208B module. One floating, balanced audio input and output are also included. Communication is established through an RS-485 bus connection.

Time-based control is handled by an internal quartz clock, which can be synchronized via the optional PRR-077-B DCF module. Alternatively, the PSS-224C can be operated from a master clock (PTC-240B). Optional add-ons include a display and key module, text and gong module, measurement and monitoring module, and an audio routing module.

Configuration is performed easily via the “ConfigV3000” PC software, which manages all VARES 3000 components.
