General
Ethernet ports2 x 10/100BaseT(X)
The Moxa ioLogik E1212 is an Ethernet remote I/O device from the ioLogik E1200 series, specifically designed for industrial automation applications, remote monitoring, and IIoT infrastructures. The device connects industrial sensors and actuators via an Ethernet network to control systems and performs decentralized data acquisition and processing. It features integrated Ethernet ports and enables cost-efficient networking through Daisy-Chaining, eliminating the need for external switches. The platform supports six communication protocols, including Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP, SNMP v1/v2c, RESTful API, Moxa AOPC, and MXIO, enabling flexible integration into existing IT and OT systems. Simultaneous protocol processing allows different systems to access the same I/O data simultaneously without data conflicts.

Applications
The ioLogik E1212 is designed for use in harsh industrial environments, such as manufacturing automation, power supply, water management, or machine building. The devices are designed for operation in environments with high mechanical stress, temperature fluctuations, and electrical interference. Certification according to ATEX Zone 2 and Class I Div. 2 (except for models E1213/E1213-T) makes them suitable for use in potentially explosive areas, provided specific requirements are met. The operating temperature is standardly between -10 °C and 60 °C, with T models capable of operation down to -40 °C.

Functions and Features in Detail
The device features 8 digital inputs and 8 configurable DIOs, which can be used as inputs or outputs depending on the application. The DIOs allow flexible adaptation to different requirements, such as controlling relays or monitoring switch states. Peer-to-peer communication enables direct transfer of input to output signals without additional logic, simplifying the system architecture. User-defined Modbus TCP addresses and support for RESTful API as well as push technology for event transmission to SCADA systems increase flexibility in networked environments.

Technology Explained Simply
The two integrated Ethernet ports (10/100BaseT(X)) enable direct networking with other devices or a network switch. The Daisy-Chain function reduces the number of required network components and simplifies installation. Configuration is performed via a web-based console, the ioSearch tool, or the MCC tool, allowing central management of devices even in large installations. Security features include an access control list and local authentication to prevent unauthorized access to the devices. The MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) is up to 923,027 hours, indicating high reliability.

Compatibility and Accessories
The ioLogik E1212 is compatible with various configuration and management tools, including ioSearch and MCC Tool, enabling central device management. Software libraries MXIO for Windows and Linux support integration into custom applications. The devices can be integrated into existing Ethernet networks using supported protocols (Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP, etc.). The delivery includes the device itself, an 8-pole connection terminal (3.81 mm), a 12-pole connection terminal (3.81 mm), a 3-pole connection terminal (5.00 mm), a quick start guide, and a warranty card.

Mounting and Installation
Mounting is either on a DIN rail or on the wall, with the housing made of plastic. The connection terminals allow secure and quick connection of sensors and actuators. Installation requires no special tools, as the terminals can be connected directly. Configuration is performed via a web interface accessible through a standard browser.

Operational Advantages
The ioLogik E1212 reduces the complexity of automation systems through decentralized data processing and reduces the need for additional control devices. The Daisy-Chain function minimizes cabling and the number of required network components. Support for multiple protocols and the RESTful API enable easy integration into modern, networked systems. High reliability and certification for hazardous areas increase operational safety in critical applications.
