The device is not intended for use in extremely cold or hot environments, as is the case with the -T models of the EDS-316 series.

The switch features five 10/100BaseT(X) RJ45 ports, which automatically detect transmission speed, duplex mode (half- or full-duplex), and MDI/MDI-X cabling. This enables simple and flexible connection of various network devices without manual settings. The automatic detection of network settings reduces installation time and minimizes error sources. The integrated Broadcast Storm Protection protects the network from data storms caused by faulty devices or network disturbances.

Technology Explained Simply
The RJ45 ports support data transfer rates of 10 or 100 Mbit/s, with speed automatically adjusted to the connection. The Auto-MDI/MDI-X function detects whether a device is connected directly (MDI) or via a crossover cable (MDI-X) and automatically adapts the cabling. This simplifies installation, as no special cables or configurations are required. The Broadcast Storm Protection monitors data traffic and blocks or throttles uncontrolled broadcast or multicast messages to maintain network performance.

Compatibility and Accessories
The EDS-405A is designed for use in existing industrial Ethernet networks and is compatible with standard 10/100BaseT(X) devices. It can be used in combination with other unmanaged switches or managed devices to create a decentralized network structure. The use of fiber optic ports (e.g. SC or ST) is not provided for this model, as it exclusively offers RJ45 ports. The certifications Class I Div. 2 and ATEX Zone 2 do not apply to the EDS-405A, as these are specified for the EDS-316 series and are not transferable to this model.

The device can be mounted on standard DIN rails or installed within enclosures, enabling flexible installation in control enclosures or switch cabinets. Installation is tool-free and requires no special configuration.
