Some cables are for 1-to-1 direct connections, while others provide fan-out capability to multiple devices (e.g., 1-to-2, 1-to-4, or 1-to-8 connections).

Each cable includes a specific pin assignment based on the connector type and is compatible with Moxa serial interface cards (PCI, PC/104, and PC/104-Plus), embedded systems, device servers, and converters. Some models feature optional termination resistors or ruggedized designs such as IP67 protection on M12 connectors.

Board-side connectors include DB9 (female), 10-pin or 20-pin housing cables, RJ45, and more. Device-side connectors include DB9 or DB25 (male or female), terminal blocks, or multiple serial ports on a single cable.
