The new Smart Parking node improves detection and stability performance thanks to a radar sensor that allows precise detection (99%) of vehicles parked above the device. When the device detects a change in parking lot status, it sends the data to the cloud via the LoRaWAN network.
Radar technology offers improved performance compared to devices equipped with magnetic or infrared sensing. Additionally, radar parking devices are not susceptible to magnetic interference nor do they give false positive results on vehicles parked nearby or in double rows. Their performance is more consistent in all lighting conditions, more stable during prolonged parking and they are not affected by proximity to traffic movements such as passing buses or heavy trucks. Additionally, radar parking sensors are much easier to maintain because they are not affected by dirt, dust, rain, or oil spills. The coverage of the nodes has been vastly improved and now
comes with standard time settings and also with unique LoRaWAN identifiers and keys. This allows all nodes to be registered in the LoRaWAN network server at any time. The new smart parking platform also offers an over-the-air facility to remotely configure parameters such as sleep time, keep-alive time, night mode, etc. via the “remote configuration form”. This makes it possible to install the nodes directly with factory settings and then update them from the cloud. This feature reduces installation times.
