The Intellinet Gigabit media converter enables the integration of copper cable connections into a fiber optic network. This allows the integration or expansion of the existing network to be carried out with little cost and effort. Since the converter is completely network transparent, the network continues to work in the same way - now with support for both copper and fiber optic media.
Expands an existing network
< >Thanks to the fiber optic connection, even distant workgroups can now be integrated into the network. Building-to-building connections can be set up without additional routers, saving effort and costs.
Increases the range between network devices
< p>By connecting to a fiber optic segment, the distance between remote network nodes can be increased. This can be achieved by connecting the converter directly to a fiber optic connection node or network device.
Cabling flexibility
Network administrators can install fiber optic cables anywhere within a network without having to change the structure of the copper cable network. The converter's compact design means it can be installed in places with limited space as well as on a wall mount. Likewise, multiple converters can be installed simultaneously in a 48,3 cm ( 19 inch ) rackmount housing. - A 10/100/1000 RJ45 port supports a maximum range of 100 m
