The HDMI EDID Emulator learns the EDID data from a display and ensures that your video source uses optimal resolution settings. Its ghost function saves the EDID of displays, allowing the source to boot with the correct settings. Supporting resolutions up to 1920 x 1080, it displays either the default or copied EDID for connected displays. The EDID learning functionality prevents computers from deactivating ports when no display is detected. With a unique Audio Inventory feature, this device can learn EDID data for two-channel, 5.1 channel, and 7.1 channel audio, making it ideal for home theater applications. An integrated rotary switch enables manual selection and comparison of video resolutions. The emulator offers three modes: PC mode, AV mode, and memory mode, and can record and store up to 15 different EDID data sets.

Often, a source device’s graphics card cannot detect the highest resolution supported by a connected display, especially if there is an intermediary device, like a KVM switch, between the source and display. This can result in a lower default resolution, which can only be manually corrected in some cases.

This is where an EDID-supporting device proves invaluable. EDID ensures optimal source-to-display performance by adjusting the video output to match the display’s capabilities. The EDID Ghost unit supports copying, emulating, cloning, and learning EDID data from a display.

The unit works with a wide range of devices, including Blu-ray DVD players, game consoles, HD set-top boxes, LCD displays, and digital TVs.
