Modular DKM KVM extenders offer the largest selection of combination options for video and peripheral signals, ensuring you get the right KVM extender for even very specific applications.

The modular DKM KVM extenders consist of enclosures with 2, 4, 6, or 21 slots, base modules with video and two USB HID interfaces, and upgrade modules for peripheral connections. Special converter modules offer conversion from analog to digital, allowing you to use various analog video sources with the system. An 8-port switching module is also available for space-saving installations, providing the same functionality as the DKM FXC switches.

Base Modules:

The modules on this page provide one or two video ports and two USB HID ports for keyboard and mouse. Additionally, they offer CATx or LC fiber connections for connection to a remote counterpart or, in a switched environment, to a central KVM switch. Each enclosure of the modular DKM extenders must be equipped with at least one base module.

Choose between cable connections via CATx, fiber with 1 Gbps, or high-speed fiber with 2.5 Gbps depending on the required distance and video bandwidth. CATx connections are ideal for shorter distances up to 140m. The fiber modules support both multimode up to 1km and single-mode fiber up to 10km. The 2.5 Gbps high-speed modules are designed for demanding graphic applications and offer double the bandwidth of standard modules.

Base modules are available in various video formats. Choose from Single Link DVI-D, DVI-I with VGA input and DVI-D output, Dual Head DVI-D, HDMI, and DisplayPort, each with two USB HID ports for keyboard and mouse.

Modules with special functions offer further possibilities. Redundant link modules are ideal for applications requiring a back channel, or when two users share a video channel. Modules with an integrated 2-port switch are ideal when, in addition to the remote console, a local console needs to be connected or a console must access both. For pure HD video distribution, choose modules with only video interfaces. If you operate Wacom tablets or other high-bandwidth USB devices, select the transparent USB 2.0 module with a speed of 480 Mbps and a separate cable link.

Resolutions:

Due to the digital transmission of the video signal without loss of quality, images are displayed as sharp as if directly connected to the workstations. The advanced video compression algorithms support 24-bit color depth for smooth gradients. Single Link DVI delivers pixel-perfect resolutions up to 2048 x 1152, Dual Link DVI up to 2560 x 1600/2x2K, HDMI up to 1080p, and DisplayPort up to 4K over the full distance.

DKM Modular Extenders Overview:

Enclosures are available as desktop versions with two, four, or six slots, and a 48,3 cm ( 19 inch ) version with 21 slots. For critical applications, use the versions with two power supplies for redundant operation. Choose between internal or external power supplies, AC power, or for industrial applications, DC with 12-, 24-, or 48VDC. The desktop enclosures can be mounted to walls, under desks, DIN rails, or in 48,3 cm ( 19 inch ) racks with optional mounting kits. Configure an enclosure with a transmitter card for computer connection and an enclosure with receiver cards for console connection.

Base Modules provide the cable connection to the remote side. Each enclosure must be equipped with a base card. These provide one or two video channels as well as two USB HID ports.

Upgrade Modules transmit their signals over the base cards, so they do not need separate connection cables. This saves on infrastructure costs and space. Choose from various interfaces such as USB HID, PS/2, embedded USB 2.0 with 36 Mbps, serial RS-232 or RS-422 data, bidirectional analog audio, and uni-/bidirectional digital audio. Mix and match cards with the base modules in an enclosure.

The DKM converter modules allow the connection of video sources with analog formats such as component and composite or industrial formats like EGA, CGA, or MDA. Additional options for graphic applications include SDI, HD-SDI, or 3G-SDI. The converter modules convert analog signals into digital DVI-D signals and transmit them losslessly over the distance.

The DKM FXC switching modules save space. They require two slots in the enclosure but provide 8 ports and the full feature set of the DKM FXC matrix switches. Use these modules in the transmitter enclosure to avoid purchasing and housing a separate KVM switch, giving your user access to eight computers with instant switching. Choose between two versions with eight CATx or eight fiber connections.

Modular DKM extenders can be used as point-to-point extensions when the computer is located away from the user console. They offer the widest variety of interfaces and the highest video quality, making them ideal for graphic users and those with specialized peripherals. In larger switched extensions, the modular DKM extenders work perfectly with the KVM matrix switches from the DKM FX and DKM FXC series. In combination with the DKM switches, they create a freely scalable and flexible switching system that integrates all resources within the company.
