The intelligent PDU of the PG6308 series from ATEN features 8 sockets* in a compact 1U rack enclosure. With an ARM Cortex-A8 processor, these PDUs offer advanced control options via USB, COM, environmental sensors and two Gigabit LAN ports.
Designed for quick deployment, PG series PDUs can power all connected devices within just 10 seconds of being plugged in. For improved cost efficiency and space optimisation, these intelligent PDUs can be cascaded, allowing up to 64 units to be connected together.
The PG series PDUs are equipped with RJ-45 sensor ports for connection to EA1640, which monitor the status of the data centre environment and ensure optimal operating conditions. They offer secure, centralised and intelligent power management functions that allow users to turn on, turn off or restart IT devices in the data centre, such as servers, storage systems, KVM switches, network devices and serial data devices.
By integrating remote control and real-time power measurement, users can manage and monitor the power status of devices connected to PG series PDUs from virtually anywhere with an IP connection. This feature is available at the PDU device, bank or outlet level, depending on the model.
These intelligent PDUs are designed for high voltage ranges from 100 V to 240 V. In addition, they provide accurate kWh energy consumption data with an accuracy of ±1%. This precision improves power consumption monitoring, helps determine baseline energy consumption and supports the tracking of energy efficiency measures.
In terms of hardware design, PG Series PDUs feature integrated energy-saving relays – a subtype of electromagnetic switches – to manage large currents more efficiently, resulting in lower energy consumption compared to models without relays. The integrated circuit breaker in PG Series models supports current flows of 30 A or 32 A and automatically cuts off the power supply to prevent overloads and protect connected devices from damage.
The PG series firmware can be updated via the web GUI or USB, allowing users to conveniently download updates from the ATEN website and always have access to the latest features and improvements for practical use.
A green LCD console sticker is included, with additional options in blue, yellow, red and purple available. This colour-coding system improves the distinguishability of power settings and facilitates more efficient troubleshooting.
The PG Series intelligent PDUs are ideal for server rooms, network cabinets and enterprise data centres, providing an intelligent solution for power distribution and management that meets the demands of high-density IT applications while optimising overall costs.
Note:
1. PG6308A includes 8 x NEMA 5-20R outlet configurations
2. PG6308B / PG6308G includes 6 x IEC60320 C13 and 2 x IEC60320 C19 outlet configurations
Connections
Supports 1 Gbit/s Ethernet interface
Remote management protocols – TCP/IP, UDP, HTTP, HTTPS, SSL, DHCP, SMTP (TLS 1.2), ARP, NTP, DNS, Auto Sense, Ping, SNMP V1, V2 and V3, Telnet, Modbus (via TCP/IP), Wi-Fi and IPv6
Scripting – JSON-RPC protocol (Remote Procedure Call) and Python scripting for controlling specific PDU units
Security – 2-step login with user name/password, IP/MAC filter, 128-bit SSL
Authentication – RADIUS, LDAP, TACACS
Supports Eco-DC and multiple browsers (IE, Firefox, Chrome and Safari)
Supports RS-232 and RS-485 communication ports.
Automatic ping and restart
The environment sensor connection allows up to 8 ATEN EA1640 environment sensors to be connected or daisy-chained via RJ-45 for monitoring and managing temperature, humidity, airflow, air pressure difference and leaks with warning messages in case of potential hazards (sold separately)
Rotatable LCD screen – rotates 180 degrees for flexible rack installation.
Measurement and monitoring of power at PDU and socket level
Measurement and setting of thresholds for current, voltage, power, power loss, temperature and humidity
Precise kWh measurement (+/-1%) for better power consumption habits, baseline values and initiative tracking
Real-time alerts on the LCD screen inform users of unusual power conditions:
Measurements on the start screen: A (total current), V (voltage), W (power), kWh (power consumption)
Types of alerts: Critical, Warning (value exceeds a predefined threshold), Warning (value is approaching the warning threshold)
Network
Two Ethernet ports support cascading of up to 64 PDUs
Daisy chain functions support SNMP and Modbus protocols as well as TC/IP protocols (website)
Supports ATEN's eco DC (Energy & DCIM Management Web GUI) for monitoring power distribution, energy and environmental data from PDUs and connected devices
Socket control
Remote control of sockets (on/off, restart) for individual sockets and socket groups
Support for socket groups at PDU level
Supports multiple power control methods – Wake on LAN, System After AC Back, Kill the Power
Sequential on/off – users can set the power-on sequence and delay time for each socket so that devices are powered on in the correct order.
Proactive overload protection (POP) – automatically shuts down the last outlet causing the power overload, while users can set the shutdown priority.
Energy-efficient relays allow operators to control large amounts of power for lower energy consumption.
