The Arduino MKR WAN 1310 Board provides a practical and cost-effective solution to add LoRa® connectivity to projects that require low power consumption. This open source board can be connected to the Arduino IoT cloud, your own LoRa® network using the Arduino LoRa® PRO gateway, an existing LoRaWAN infrastructure such as The Things Network or even other boards that support the direct Use connectivity mode.
The MKR WAN 1310 brings a number of improvements compared to its predecessor, the MKR WAN 1300. The MKR WAN 1310 is still based on the Microchip® SAMD21 low-power processor, the Murata CMWX1ZZABZ LoRa® module and the MKR family's signature crypto chip (the ECC508), but features a new battery charger, a 2 MByte-sized SPI flash and improved control of the board's power consumption.
Recent modifications have significantly improved the battery life of the MKR WAN 1310. When configured correctly, power consumption is now only 104uA! It is also possible to supply the board with power (5V) via the USB port. Data logging and other OTA (Over The Air) functions are now possible as the board has a 2 MB flash memory. With this new feature you can transfer configuration files from the infrastructure to the board (2 MB flash), create your own script commands or simply store data locally to send the data when the connection is at its best. The MKR WAN 1310's crypto chip provides additional security by storing credentials and certificates in the embedded Secure Element.
