Our field effect transistor controls the current flow between drain and source via the voltage applied to the gate. The special thing about this component is that the connection between gate and source has a very high resistance. Field effect transistors are called “MOSFET” (metal oxide semiconducting field effect transistor) or “MOS” for short. There are different types of MOS, this one is a normally blocking n-channel. This means that the threshold voltage must be present at the gate in order for current to flow between the drain and source. The voltage at the gate must be positive to the source. The MOSFET can handle up to 60V source-drain voltage and a peak current of 60A (not both at the same time, of course). Danger. The contacts of the brick system can withstand a maximum of 6.3A per contact. The gate input is protected with an ESD 12V and a resistor of 22kOhm.
