Timely warning of life-threatening smoke Over 500 people in Germany die every year as a result of fire, 95% of them from toxic smoke. Since the sense of smell also sleeps at night, most people do not wake up until it is too late: The thick smoke causes those affected to lose their orientation and cannot get to safety in time - the toxic smoke gases lead to unconsciousness after just three breaths - and death within a short time. Most fires are not caused by negligence: technical defects such as cable fires are among the main causes that can occur at any time without warning. The photoelectric ABUS smoke alarm detects even the smallest smoke particles and warns residents of an impending fire early and effectively with a loud alarm. The detection range of the smoke alarm is up to 40 m² and is limited to the room in which it is installed. For optimal protection, one smoke alarm is recommended per hallway, staircase, living room and bedroom. Unwanted alarms (caused by interference such as dust or water vapor) can be easily and simply silenced by pressing the large test button. A permanently installed 3 V lithium battery guarantees reliable function and a long service life of the smoke alarm. The correct function of the alarm should be checked regularly by pressing the large test button. Malfunctions or a weak battery are signaled acoustically and visually.
